The Big Stage: USA’s and Peachtree

Pikes Peak Elite runners faced some “big stage” competition this month with Annette Melcher competing in her first USATF Championships as well as Ben Payne and Jeremy Drenckhahn racing in the World’s largest 10k…the Peachtree Roadrace.

Annette finished seventh in her heat with a time of 2:05 which placed her 24th overall amongst the top 800m runners in the USA. She was among two other Air Force alumni to compete at this year’s USATF Championships in Eugene, OR.

On the other side of the country in Atlanta, Ben Payne finished 2nd in the famous AJC Peachtree Road Race. The race came down to a photo-finish and Ben was .09 seconds behind Scott Overall who took the win, both at 29:30. Jeremy Drenckhahn finished 8th in 30:43
