Over the past two weekends, several Pikes Peak Elite runners have reached new personal-best times and places while racing across the country.
On February 6th, Katherine Ward finished 12th at the USATF National Cross-Country Championships in Bend, Oregon. Despite a tough course and slow-times overall, her 12th place finish was her highest-ever for this event.
A week later in Boston at the BU Valentine Invite, all three of our competing athletes walked away with new personal records. Annette Melcher ran an indoor 800m personal best of 2:03.98, which currently ranks her 31st in the World. Her time also qualified her for the 2016 USA Indoor Championships March 10-12th in Portland, Oregon where she will compete for a spot on the World Championship team. In the mile, Morgan Mosby raced to a new personal best in 4:41.63.
On the men’s side, Daniel Castle ran 4:01.51, improving on his time from the Scarlet and White Invitational the previous week in Boston. His time is currently ranked 29th in the USA for the indoor mile this season.
