Carlos Trujillo competed at the Central American Games this past week representing his home country of Guatemala.
On December 10th, Trujillo competed in his first of two races and came away with a victory in the 5000m two seconds ahead of his teammate from Guatemala, Mario Pacay.
Then, on Tuesday he competed in the 10,000m race. After leading the first 22-laps of the final, the race came down to a sprint finish. In the final 100m, Trujillo battled neck and neck with his teammate Mario Pacay. In a photo finish, Carlos pulled ahead by .2seconds at the finish line to claim his gold.
“Phew that was a kick!” Said Trujillo, “Came down to a 4 man sprint for three medals. Once again, with the Grace of God came home with the “W”. Each one of us gave it our all to bring home the victory. Such an honor and blessed to represent Guatemala.”
